"In presenting this Guide to the public for the season of 1870, there is a pleasure in being able to offer many improvements in the condition of the great through Pleasure and Tourist route to Niagara Falls, Thousand Islands, Rapids of River St. Lawrence, Montreal, Quebec, River Saguenay, the fashionable watering places of Tadousac and Cacouna, White Mountains, Mansfield Mt., New York, Boston and principal points in the East. The routes of which we propose to speak are the Michigan Central, Grand Trunk, New York Central, Erie, and Vermont Central Railways which form a direct route to New York, and all points on the New York Central or Erie Railways, either via Buffalo or Suspension Bridge, as well as the most desirable and cheapest route via Toronto, Ogdensburg or Montreal, to Boston, and all points in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts.
