SONS OF TEMPERANCE

(Temperance Lithograph) SONS OF TEMPERANCE. Kelloggs & Comstock. Colored lithograph of two well dressed individuals with both wearing their temperance ribbon. The scholar in the hand of the one pledges "No brother shall make, buy, sell or use, as a beverage any Spiritous or Malt Liquors, Wine, or cider."

The print probably dates to early 1850 as later that year one of the two Kellogg brothers left the firm and it became known as Kellogg & Comstock.

The print measures within the borders 8.5 x 12 inches and an outside measurement of 10 x 14 inches. There is a 1.5 inch tear extending past the border into the print on the left side middle; a 3 inch tear extending past the border into the print on the right side middle, a chip at the middle edge of the right-hand side and several other minor tears.
