(Oklahoma) THE INDIAN SCHOOL JOURNAL. 1960-1961. Volume 60 - Number 1-31 and THE INDIAN SCHOOL JOURNAL - 1962-1963. Volume 62 - Number 1 thru Volume 62 - Number 15.

Each issue was 4 pages in length until Vol. 60 #31 (May 25, 1961) when it went to an eight page format. Each issue is full of school news, photos, special Navajo programing, senior personalities and overall a vivid description of the Chilocco Indian school.

Chilocco Indian School, primarily an agricultural school for Native Americans opened in 1884 and closed on June 3, 1980, Through those 96 years there were a total of 18,000 students from 126 Indian tribes which attended. Being authorized by Congress in1882, Chilocco was one of five non-reservation boarding schools Opening in 1884 the class of 150 students were from the Cheyenne, Arapaho, Wichita, Comanche and Pawnee tribes. When the school closed in 1980 due to lack of funding by Congress, Superintendent C.C. Tillman wrote in that years yearbook "Chilocco is another in a long list of broken promises."
