(Abraham Lincoln) Clemens, Samuel L., et al. YOU HAVE THIS DAY BEEN ENROLLED AS AN HONORARY MEMBER OF THE LINCOLN FARM ASSOCIATION. Certificate #113499 issued by THE LINCOLN FARM ASSOCIATION on April 22, 1909 marking a contribution by Capt. Cooney. These certificates with the engraved pictorial Lincoln cabin, President Abraham Lincoln and the White House, (22.5 x 29.5 cm) were given to those who donated to the restoration of Lincoln’s birthplace. Others who financially donated to its restoration besides Clemens were Ida Tarbell, William H. Taft, Samuel Gompers and their engraved signatures appear on the certificate. Clemens is identified as Mark Twain. Those who did contribute received this sealed, engraved certificate given by the American Bank Note Company. Theodore Roosevelt laid the cornerstone for the monument in 1909 and Taft presided at its dedication in 1911. In exceptional condition with only a small closed tear and encased in a cloth folding envelope.
