(Broadside) North Carolina. TITLES OF THE LAWS PASSED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF NORTH-CAROLINA, AT THEIR SESSION WHICH COMMENCED ON THE 15TH OF NOVEMBER, AND ENDED THE 18TH OF DECEMBER , 1802. C. 1802. 

This broadside, intended to be posted at public locations. gives a listing of 116 laws based in the above designated months. (November - December 1802). 

Highlights include:

#6 - "to prevent the vile practice of Duelling," 

#10 - "To divorce John Spell, of the county of Edgecomb from his wife Celia."

#17 - "For the relief of the Tufearora Nation of Indians."

#20 - "To alter the place of holding the battalion mufter & elections in the county of Bladen."

#23 - "To empower the wardens of the poor for the counties of martin and Robefon, to lay and collect an additional poor-tax."

#27 - "To inveft the property of a bridge, or caufeway, through the Difmal Swamp, from Camden to Currituck county, in Frederick B. Sawyer, for the term of 20 years."

#37 - "To authorize the county courts therein mentioned to lay a tax for defraying the expences incurred in suppressing the late insurrection of the Negroes in said counties."

#38 - "To repeal an act. paffed in 1796, fo far as refpects the county of Perquinnons, entitled "An act making compenfation to the owners of outlawed and executed flaves for the counties of Bladen, Halifax, Granville, Cumberland, Perquinons, Beaufort and Pitt." 

#62 - "To repeal an act, entitled "An act to regulate and fix the prices for infpecting and coopering Tobacco at Fayetteville, paffed in the year 1791."

#89 - "For regulating ordinaries and retailers of fpirituous liquors by the fmall meafure, and for appointing a flandard-keeper in teh town of Fayetteville."

#100 - "To prevent confpiracies and infurretions among the slaves."

#102 - "To repeal part of an act paffed at Hillfborough, in 1784, fo far as refpects Richmond county, entitledd, "An act to empower the feveral couny courts therein mentioned, to lay a tax annually for the purpofe of repairing the courthoufe, prifon, and flocks in each county, were neceffary, and for defraying the contingent charges of the county." 

#114 - "For the relief of perfons who have obtained grants for land which are covered, in whole or in part, by grants of older date."

These 116 Session Laws which were passed between the 15th of November and the 18th of December would then be incorporated into the General Statutes (NCGS) which was the primary body of statewide laws.

17-1/2" x 10-3/4" broadside, text in four columns divided by rules, illegibly docketed on verso. Light browning and foxing, vertical and horizontal fold lines, a few clean tears and wear at folds, cellotape repairs to verso, several small areas of loss to text (largest about 3/4 inch), left edge trimmed unevenly, faint damp staining to bottom edge.  Apparently no copies listed on OCLC.
