The catalog targets pre-war prospective home buyers and home builders for FHA sponsored loans, the result of one of President Roosevelt’s second inaugural initiatives, the Wagner-Steagall Housing Act. The homes are designed by leading architects promoting the styles of bungalows including Colonial Revival, Dutch Colonial and summer homes. Cleveland Publications was founded in the late 1930’s by Arch Cleveland (1893-1957), a Canadian – American and former RAF officer during WWl who operated the American Tire Machinery Co. as wells a running a business of printing sets of plans as a brochure for prospective home buyers, by arrangement with local lumber and building suppliers in Southern California.
