J. Frank Dobie letter
Important TLS letter, letterhead and transmittal envelope from J. Frank Dobie. (1888-1964) the acclaimed American folklorist, writer and historian famously known as the “Father of Texas Literature’. He dedicated his life to preserving the rich legends, ranching heritage, and traditions of the Southwestern frontier.
This “Storyteller of the Southwest” taught an influential course on the literature of the Southwest at the University of Texas and spent five decades recording and publicizing the folklore of Texas and the greater Southwest.

November 1, 1949
“Dear Mr. Caskey: I trust you received the autographed copies of the Voice of the Coyote. I was delighted to brand these. If at any time you want a special autograph for somebody, I will be glad to supply it. Sincerely yours – Frank Dobie.
